Article I read...
I read this article in "For Women! FitnessRx" magazine that states Japanese scientists have found that two 30-minute, moderate-intensity aerobic programs with a 20 minute break between sessions increase fat metablolism, stress hormone levels, and blood ketone levels while lowering insulin and blood sugar more than one continuous 60-minute workout. In other words, you burn more fat by doing two 30-minute workouts with just a 20 minute break between than you would doing one 60-minute workout. Another article suggested the same thing but also mentioned that during the 20 minutes between workouts, you should do several ab exercises and basic stretches...
Day Three...
Another VERY good day for me! I woke up way too early today, laid in bed debating on whether or not I should just get up and go do one of my Workout video's... I won the debate, and as soon as hubby and daughter headed out the door for work and school, I grabbed one of my new DVDs I received from Prevention Magazine. The one I chose was 3-2-1 workout with Chris Freytag. It was a really good workout and will be even better when I get the routine down and stop laughing at my uncoordinated self.
The workout was a whole body workout with 6 sessions. Each session consisted of 3 minutes cardio, 2 minutes strength training, 1 minute of ab training. I look forward to doing this workout again.
Now that I KNOW I can get up in the morning, do about 1 hour of physical fitness, eat breakfast, shower, get dressed, be out the door, and at work by 9:30 each morning without really getting up any earlier than I normally do, maybe I can stop debating with myself... just get up and do it without turning on the computer to check my boards and email first...
We were pretty busy at work today... mostly dealing with issues that came about yesterday due to our being so busy with trucks, customer pick ups, and such... but I think that the issues will be cleared up by tomorrow.... which, I won't have to deal with as I get a three day weekend!
Tomorrow I will be doing a 3-mile walk through the halls of one of the local Middle Schools. I am doing it in support of the March of Dimes. I've not done so well with my fund raising as it took them forever to mail me the forms after I sent in the request. This is the second time I have done the walk... but last year, I just walked with one of my co-workers and did not collect anything. Next year, I will have to just register online and print my forms from there. Much quicker that way...
After the March For Babies, hubby and I are going to go walk around the All Season's arena as the "Big One" is going to be there... the Big Craft Show that is... :)
Think I shall sit here tonight and work more on my goals, go back and read my previous blogs on Sparkpeople.com to remind me of exactly how I did it two years ago... I know in my head what I want, but I've not worked it out to how I am going to get there...
Thanks for helping me get the motivation back that I lost. It's slowly coming back just by reading your blogs containing your menus, goals, etc. Thanks GALS! You all rock!
Oh... stood on the scale today... 139.4 which puts me back at my goal weight. Now to get the muscle tone back... :)
Today's Body Blessing:
B: Special K Red Berries Waffles w/ Raspberries & Sugar Free Blueberry Syrup, Banana.
L: Arby's Turkey Sandwich
D: Baked Pork Rib, Au Gratin Potatoes, Cheesy Broccoli, Fresh Veggies
Beverages:
70.8 oz water (so far)
1 bottle Flavored Water
1 small Diet Pepsi from Arby's (only because she gave it to me free of charge... manager was not used to my not ordering it... :)

Basic Hearty Vegetable Soup
When I post my veggie soup for my lunches, this is the recipe I use. It freezes up really well and tastes great.
Basic Hearty Vegetable Soup
1 lb carrots, peeled and sliced into 1/2 inch rounds
1-1/2 lbs onion (3 medium), coursely chopped
4 large stalks celery, sliced
2 large cloves garlic
1 lb green cabbage (1/2 sm. head), thinly sliced
3/4 lb. green beans, trimmed and cut into thirds
1-1/4 lbs. zucchini (3 medium), liced in half lenthwise, then sliced into half-moons
2 cans (28 oz) whole tomatoes in juice
1 can (48-49 oz) chicken broth (6 cups)
6 cups water
Salt & Pepper, to taste
2 bags (8-9 oz) baby spinach leaves (which I forgot to add when I made my batch)
Combine carrots, onions, & celery into 12-qt stock pot with Chicken stock. Using a garlic press, crush garlic into stockpot. Bring to a simmer and cook 8 minutes or until vegtables begin to soften, stirring occasionally.
When carrots are tender crisp, add tomatoes with the liquid to the stockpot. Using a spoon, break the tomatoes.
Add sliced cabbage, green beans, zucchini, spinach, water, 1 teaspoon salt, & 1/4 teaspoon pepper (or to taste).
Cover and simmer 10 minutes or until vegtables are tender.
Cool soup slightly. Ladle out portions into two cup servings. Save a couple days worth out if you would like and freeze the remaining servings.
Each cup is about 45 calories, 2 g protein, 9 g carbohydrate, 4 g fiber, 0 mg cholesterol, 410mg sodium.
NOTE: I used the frozen bags of carrots & green beans this time around as it was quicker and I also added some italian seasoning since I was not going to use the variations to the recipe that was listed in the magazine article where I based my recipe on.
Yielded approx. 20 cups (without adding the spinach)
Enjoy!

Day Two...
Man or Man am I ever exhausted today!
I knew today was going to be a rough day, but I had trouble falling asleep last night then ended up waking up early this morning so I was tired when I left for work.
Upon getting to work, I noticed that first of our trucks was already there... 2+ hours early. Because of our last trucks getting here late due to the weather in Fargo, Missouri, etc., one of my guys ended up working with the Delivery team to make up some of the missed deliveries because the merchandise had not been there when origanallyl scheduled. Well, that left 2 of us to offload the first applience truck. We did 60 pieces by ourself in about 1 hour and we had to do rearranging and customer pick-ups at the same time...
We had JUST got started on the first truck when the next truck pulls in... still, more than 2 hours earlier than scheduled. Just as we were finishing the first truck, one of my other associates made it to work so I was able to go to lunch. I ended up going to Arby's to get a Turkey Sandwhich because I knew that I was burning way more calories than what I had planned and packed for my lunch. I was already feeling very famished just working the first truck so I new I needed a few extra calories today. Figured the Turkey Sandwich was a safe bet.
Then... before we were even done with the second truck, our third truck arrives. It so felt like Christmas Holidays all over again. Only this time, I only had 3 other associates to help me instead of 5...LOL. We still managed to get the trucks done (all three of them) by 5:00... It took us 6 straight hours to get them offloaded! I even ended up working an extra hour just to cover lunch for one of my closers. A long, very physically active day for sure. Needless to say, not strength training for me tonight. I think I will just do a few stretches to help work out the stress and tension of the long day at work.
Today's Body Blessing...
B: Ham & Egg White's on English Muffin, Apple
L: Veggie Soup, Arby's Turkey Sandwich, Mixed Fruit Cocktail
D: Baked Boneless Beef Rib, Sm. Baked Potato sprinkled with Butter Buds, Mott's Bold & Spicy Vegtable Juice.
Beverages:
67.6 oz water (will drink anywhere between a half and full bottle before bed though so will get my daily goal of 70-oz. in)
1 lg. Diet Pepsi (I know, bad choice, but was getting headache from being so hungry working on truck...first in a few days though)
Today's Workout...
6 non-stop hours of offloading trucks at work... :)
Now, I will go do some stretches so I feel like I did at least something other than work. It may just help to relax the sore tired muscles too.

Weighing In and Posting Pics...
Well, here we go... It's Day One of Sheila's Sizzlin Hot by Summer Challange. Here are my begining pics, mind you, I started my own personal challange a little over two years ago and lost thirty pounds. My husband was gone and I didn't have to worry about fixing things he would eat, so I ate the way I felt was right for me, I worked out 3-4 times a week (sometimes more) as I had time to do that while my daughter was at school and some days she went with me.
After my husband came home and he started cooking again ( he gets home from work before I do and since it's dinner time by the time I get home, he does most of our dinner cooking) I gained back 15 lbs. Over the past few months I have worked on loosing the weight and was actually doing pretty well up until about 2 months ago... In two months, I've gained back the pouch on my stomach and can see the fat around my back forming back too...
So, here is my side profile...
And the front...
Today's weight... 143.4 lbs.
I'm almost to where my actual goal is, so I don't have a lot to loose, though, I am thinking of dropping my goal by 5 more pounds to 135 lbs. My biggest reason for joining this challange is so that I will gain the motivation I need to make my workouts become a habit and be consistant. I miss the muscle tone I had when I was working out at Curves and walking at the Walk Park... I miss having a good nights sleep, I miss how I felt about myself. My self confidence had sky rocketed. I've always had a low self asteem, and when I was fit and toned, I felt much more confident.
I'm working on my 2 week menu. As I commented on Sheila's post, the dinners will be hard for me to do and I probably won't include them since my husband fixes what he feels up to fixing that day. I have total control over my own breakfast and lunch though, so I will post them. I've not yet been to the grocery store, so the lunch part will be a bit of a challange and may change over the course of time, but here is a my guideline for at least the first week... I will update when I am done grocery shopping...
Wed 4-1
Breakfast: Grab & Go Cottage Crunch
Lunch: Buffalo Chicken Salad from JR. Rockers
Dinner: Deli Selects Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich, Mandarin Oranges, Vegtable Juice
Thur 4-2
Breakfast: Ham/egg on English Muffin, Fruit
Lunch: Veggie Soup
Fri 4-3
Breakfast: Pancakes and fruit
Lunch: Subway Ham & Turkey Sub, whole wheat, no mayo or dressings. Loaded with Veggies
Sat 4-4
Breakfast: Grab & Go Cottage Crunch
Lunch: Tuna Sandwhiches, Fresh Veggies
Sun 4-5
Breakfast: Sausage Gravy over Biscuit, Fruit
Lunch: BLT
Mon 4-6
Breakfast: Omlet, ham and veggies
Lunch: Leftovers from Sun. Dinner
Tue 4-7
Breakfast: Oatmeal with Fruit
Lunch: Sandwhich, fresh veggies, & fruit
Snacks each day will very depending on what I am in the mood for, but they will consist of fat free puddings, sugar free jell-o, cheese sticks, crackers, granola bars, fresh or canned fruit, & veggies...
OK... now I'm off to do some grocery shopping so I can get the things I need for my lunches...
Good Luck everyone on our first day of the challange!

Gearing up for the Sizzlin Hot by Summer Challange
Ok, I'm gearing up... I want to be Sizzlin Hot by summer so I am going to participate in the Sizzlin Hot by Summer challenge. I sure hope that the support of the other ladies in the challenge will help me reach my goals. I, for some reason just can't seem to find the motivation on my own...
Having to hold my self accountable to others tends to make it easier for me because I don't want to have to say I ate a bag of cookies today... I went back for a second huge helping of Mashed tators and extra gravy... If I have to tell the group I "failed" then it makes me think twice about what I am doing or not doing....
I'm still working on my 2 week menu plan. It's hard for me to do as I never really know what I'm going to be in the mood for until I get up that morning... But I am trying. I do need to head to the commissary tomorrow to purchase more fresh veggies as we finished those up tonight (maybe I should check, hubby did buy some the other day, however, we finished up what was cut up already...) and find things I will be able to pack for my lunches and snacks for work.
Meals at work tend to be the hardest for me lately. It seemed easier when Drew was in Korea for the year. Not sure why. I guess because I was shopping for what I wanted for my diet and not having to worry if he would eat it. I did eat a lot of the frozen dinners for lunches... the Weight Watchers or Lean Cuisine stuff, and added fresh veggies. I could do that again. Will have to see what they have.
I sure hope that the weather starts warming up here in ND soon! I want to be able to get out and walk in the evenings or mornings. Where ever I have time. I enjoyed my walking when I lived in FL. It was so peaceful walking at the walk park. Wish there was a nice park on base to walk, but none here... not with a walk park...though, I think there is a bike trail on base. I've never followed it, but maybe I can convince my daughter to ride with me or at least walk.
I got a couple of new DVDs last week in the mail. Got them free (paid just s/h) when I bought the latest Prevention Book... still have not even used them. So, I'll have to dig them out along with all my other DVDs, and my On Demand Programs I've recorded and get to working out!
I need to go up and get my pictures taken for the Before Shots... I have a dreadful feeling they will not be as nice as the last one's I took a few weeks ago as I have Not worked out but a couple of times... but, that's what this challenge is about. Getting back the motivation and getting back into shape.
With the support of my online workout buddies, I know we can all do it! Let's get to it team!
We WILL be Sizzlin Hot by Summer!

An Update on Me...
Well, it's been a while since I have posted here on my weight loss journey.
I can't say that I have done well... and I know, it's nobody's fault but my own. I'm still looking for the motivation that I lost. I'm finding it easy one day, hard the next. Somewhere, I have GOT to find it in my heart to do this for ME. I totally miss the way I felt when I lost the weight the first time around, worked out almost every day, even if it was just a two mile walk at the walk park or if I did a full 60 minute work out at Curves.
I totally can't wait until the snow melts and everything dries out here in ND. I think being able to get outside and be active might be of a big help to me as I find myself getting bored sitting at home in the evenings or on my days off as it's too cold to go outside. I find myself wanting to eat, snack on pudding, cookies, pretzels, cheese/crackers...whatever. Sure most are somewhat healthy as they are the fat free or sugar free, but I'm not always monitoring how many snacks I'm taking in.
Work has been so crazy. We had inventory a couple weeks ago so we were busy busy busy getting the warehouse organized and tagged for that. I've been so stressed at work that I am finding myself dreading my alarm going off in the mornings. I wake up and the first thing I think about it "oh crap, another day of work...I just want to stay home and sleep". I have been feeling this way a long time so thought long and hard about what I wanted to do.
I finally went to my Manager and asked if it was possible for me to step down from my Lead position and move back to the floor and work as a merchandiser and assist the customers. She is more than willing to work with me and let me move. We just have to find a replacement for me before I can officially move to the floor. I will still have to work a few hours in receiving as I am a full time associate and the MCA position is only part time... but working reciving just two or three days a week (mostly processing, not offloading trucks) will be better than the 6 days a week I have been doing...
I am hoping that this change for me at work will be good for me and allow me more time at home. Two days off a week instead of working my days off... allowing me at least two days to go go the gym or work out at home. I'm hoping I will be less stressed, less physically exhausted every day when I come home...
On the bright side... On one of my CafeMom groups, they started a water challenge last week. To drink in oz's, half my weight... in other words, since I weigh 140 lbs, I have to drink 70 oz of water each day... I've been working on this challange and not done too bad. I've not reached that amount each and every day, but I have replaced much of my Diet Pepsi with either water or the Aquafina Flavored waters (drink the flavored at work). Today I actually met my goal with 73.8 ozes & only one Diet Pepsi today instead of the two or three or sometimes more...I have been doing this week with the challange...
Well, that's a quick update on what's happening in my life right now... hopefully soon, I will have something more motivating and encouraging to share with you all...
Hope you are doing well with your goals!
